Well last night was the first Mustangs gig. We played in the garden at the back of the Volunteer in Sidmouth. They've had a band there every night through the folk festival. I met a couple of people there that reckoned the reduced Festival scale is better as it puts more of a spotlight on the smaller venues. Nice surprise to see that Sally, Colin, Gail and Peter had come along to see us play - think they got the info from Linda.
It was a great first gig. There was a good crowd - more arriving as the evening went on - and it felt good for us too!!! Tim added a few new numbers - usually a scary experience - but they went fine. Only a few people danced - so we probably need to work on that. Sound was ok - but we need to improve the foldback so we can get the "light and shade" working better in larger venues (couldn't hear Jay's keyboard much). But most of the work we have to do is refining things - the basic band and material is working well. So we'll do another rehearsal - sort out more numbers, do some technical stuff on the rig - and then go into the Bank Holiday gigs.
Tim's "better half" took a number of shots - so we'll think about adding them to one of the web sites and circulate some links to people.
oh well - back to work!!!
